Treehugger: How Windows XP Wasted $25 Billion of Energy
"Microsoft has been touting Vista's new power saving features, saying that upgrading to Vista could easily save consumers and corporations $50 to $75 per computer per year in energy costs. The question, though, is what marvelous new code makes this miracle possible. The answer? They fixed three stupid mistakes that have cost the world billions of dollars and millions of tons of CO2 in the past five years."

"The following is from a post from Webmaster World. I think it's a great article and a good read for anyone starting up a website.
I know this system works 100% of the time with Google to attain rankings across a wide range of keywords. This is what I do with clients to build a successful site and it has worked every time. The level of success will depend largely on the subject matter, its potential audience, and its level of competition on the net."

New Code Added To AdSense Setup Code: "Google has added a new line of code to the AdSense Code setup page. If you login to AdSense to copy and paste new revised code to your pages, you will see the new code. The old code still works, so there is no need to update your code (at least, not yet). JenSense has her thoughts on this from Sunday. For example, I have a channel named 'Cartoon Barry', the date I generated the new code was on the 26th of September, 2006. You can see that Google inserted '//2006-09-26: Cartoon Barry' between the google_ad_type and google_ad_channel code."

Swimming in a Sea of Sleaze
The one thing that you have in this life is your character. You can't buy it, you either have ethics and morals or you don't. And I'm not talking about your sexual behavior, I've never understood how that got into the discussion in the first place. I'm talking about how you treat other people, do you deal with them fairly and honestly or do you lie, cheat, and steal?
The reason I'm going off on this rant is twofold. I recently read a popular guide to Internet marketing, and the guy writing it is a total slimeball. He freely admits to being involved in every sleazy aspect of the Internet. Online gambling? All over it. Get rich quick schemes? He's got that covered. Offshore pharmacies? He's your man. Dude, moneys great, and it really sucks when you don't have any. Been there done that. But it's not the be-all and end-all of existence. If you can pay your rent, utilities, buy food, and have a couple of bucks left over to go out on a date, go see a movie, or go to a nice restaurant, you're doing better than 99% of the other people on Earth who live in mud huts and have no health care, food, or running water. (And maybe have a hot girlfriend NSFW). I guess this guy just has more needs than I do. But am I going to admire or look up to him? No. I'm going to think he's a useless piece of crap. I just don't need money that badly.
The other thing that set me off is checking out a popular affiliate program. I'd heard about it, so I said WTH? I went to the web site, clicked around, and saw what they had. The "Internet products" consisted of spyware and rootkits. Oh, I'm sorry, spyware removal tools and registry cleaners. Yeah, right. If you need spyware removal, there's AdAware. And there is very little need for registry cleaners, which have a high likelihood of really screwing up your system. I personally dont want to reinstall Windoze and lose all my crap. I guess if you're really anal and want to use one, use CCleaner, it's pretty good and like AdAware it's free. I'm just not going to install spyware or a rootkit on some poor bastards system to make a nickel. If I ever get to the point where I need money that badly I'd rather panhandle.
I think the Internet is the greatest series of tubes ever created. I really want to get to the point where I'm making a lot of money providing useful information to people. But Im not going to push gambling or pr0n, or infect people with spyware and god only knows what, to make a few bucks. I'm sure there's a special place in hell for those people, and I don't want to end up in jail.

hackman_3vilGuy at AdSensical has a awesome post on not getting your ass banned for life by Google for violating Adsense rules. I see violations of these Adsense rules ALL THE TIME and having them explained and spelled out is great for Adsense publishers.

Developers - AdSense API released
Google has announced a new API for AdSense (beta of course like everything else Google). I got really excited as I am a developer and thought it would be cool. It's sort of cool but wasn't quite what I was expecting.
For a start you need a minimum of 100,000 daily page views which rules out most people.
The purpose of this API is to set up and configure AdSense ads for your visitors without them leaving your site and going to the AdSense website. From your site you can sign up new users and choose ads for them. While they are using your site to place their ads, you will receive a (currently undisclosed) revenue share of what they make. Sweet!

Place Ads in the Middle of Blogger Posts
When you make a Blogger template, you can place ads in the sidebar and on top. However, the positions of the ads are static. The main point is that you cannot place an advert inside a post. Correct?
Incorrect! Using a bit of Javascript techno-wizardry you can place AdSense ads in the middle of your Blogger posts easily. I don't promise, but it should increase your CTR. Let me show you how:

Google Related Links

Google has announced a Related Links service that allows you to auto-link to other similar content. You can link to sites, searches, videos and news. This is very cool and should be implemented as a traffic-building device. I don't know what , if any, impact this will have on your search ranking but it couldn't hurt!
